Flushing celebrates Halloween with community events at 109th Precinct, Shops at Skyview

Children and parents alike put their best costumes on and headed to Flushing for the NYPD’s 109th Precinct’s annual trick-or-treating event on Oct. 31.

The 109th Precinct held the event from 3 to 6 p.m. for local children to come together, get some free candy and to have an opportunity to meet the local NYPD officers.

The building was full at 3 p.m., with local kids taking full advantage of the opportunity for free candy. The children showed off their Halloween spirit by donning creative costumes ranging from Disney princesses, to pumpkins and more.

Denise Winters, vice president of the 109th Precinct Community Council, was busy making sure each kid got enough candy. 

“We buy candy every single year and we make a lot of kids happy,” Winters told QNS. “Today is a great day for the kids to get to know the officers, which is a great thing.”

A stone’s throw away from the 109th Precinct, The Shops at Skyview kicked off its Halloween celebration at 4 p.m. with a DJ, costume contest and photo opportunities.

At 4 p.m., there was already a long queue of kids in costumes with their parents waiting for their opportunity to take a photo and enjoying the Halloween music.

The event lasted until 4 p.m.

Disbarred Queens lawyer pleads guilty to defrauding clients out of millions in real estate scheme: Feds

A disbarred Murray Hill lawyer on Dec. 1 pleaded guilty to defrauding his clients in Brooklyn federal court.

Hyun W. Lee, 51, also known as “Michael Lee,” of Closter, New Jersey, was accused of stealing millions of dollars from his clients in real estate transactions while operating at his law office at 163-07 Depot Rd. in Murray Hill. He pleaded guilty to wire fraud in connection with a scheme to defraud his real estate clients and their counterparties of funds held in his attorney escrow account.
