Man Yanks Purse With $400, iPhone, From Woman Inside Flushing Garage: NYPD

A man stole a woman’s purse containing hundreds in cash, an iPhone, and credit cards while she was inside a Flushing parking garage earlier this week, police say.

The incident happened at 4:45 p.m. on March 5, when the thief sneaked up behind the 59-year-old victim as she was inside the garage at 132-35 41 Rd., and forcibly removed her purse from her, according to police.

The thief ran with the purse on 41st Road toward Main Street, police say.

Surveillance video provided by the NYPD show the victim running away from the alleged thief before falling hard to the ground. While she sustained minor injuries to her legs and arms, she refused medical attention at the scene, according to police.

The NYPD describes the suspect as black, between 20 to 30 years old, with a medium complexion and medium build. he was also seen wearing a gray baseball hat, a red bubble jacket, black pants, and black sneakers.

The Q 58 LTD starts its route about 1 block away in the direction he fled, and it pulls out at 4:51 PM, about 1 minute after he fled the building.
