A 17-year-old pedestrian was struck dead while in the crosswalk by an 88-year-old driver in the Clearview section of Queens this morning.

Madeline Shershen, a Flushing teen, was hit while crossing Utopia Parkway at 16th Ave in the marked crosswalk at about 10:30 a.m., police said.

Shershen was transported by EMS to New York Presbyterian Hospital in Queens where she was pronounced dead. The driver, Sheila Kahn-Prager, 88, from Whitestone, remained at the scene.

Kahn-Prager struck Shershen in her 2005 Toyota while traveling southbound on Utopia Parkway, police said.

She has been arrested on charges of failing to yield to a pedestrian, running a red light and failure to exercise due care.

The investigation is ongoing by NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad.
