Applications are now open for 231 affordable units at a new development in downtown Flushing.
The development, a 10-story building where all the units are deemed affordable, includes 66 units strictly for seniors aged 62 years and older, with rents on those units starting from $865 per month.
The building, called One Flushing and located at 113-45 41st Ave., covers most of 41st Avenue between Main Street and College Point Boulevard. It has amenities such a fitness center, a resident lounge, lobby staff and a laundry facility. The building will also include ground floor retail and community facilities such as medical offices.
The units set aside for seniors are studios and one bedrooms, limited to applicants who earn 40 and 50 percent of the area media income, which ranges from $20,675 to $36,550 for an individual or for a couple $22,149 to $41,750.
The remaining 165 units, which are not age-restricted, are available to applicants making 60, 100 and 130 percent of the area median income. Studios to 3-bedroom apartments are up for grabs.
Applications are open to all, with a preference given to residents who currently live within the confines of Queens Community Boards 7, 3 and 4, which cover Flushing, Jackson Heights, Corona and neighboring areas.
Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than August 28. To apply click here.

It’s nice that these are finally done. It makes so much sense to develop dense housing right next to mass transit. The less people driving the better.
Including bicycles with headphones & cellphones
