Police are investigating the death of a 44-year-old man who was found dead with head trauma in front of his College Point home on Saturday.
Cops responding to a 911 call about an unconscious man arrived at 11-41 123 St. at around 7:45 a.m. They discovered Steven Gonzalez lying on the ground. Gonzalez was unconscious and unresponsive and had a head injury.
Emergency responders pronounced Gonzalez dead on the scene. Police did not say if foul play is suspected.
Gonzalez left behind a wife, Edna, and three sons, Mikey, Joshua, and Steven, according to a GoFundme started by friends of the family. The page noted that Gonzalez had died “suddenly and unexpectedly.”
Gonzalez’s son, who is also named Steven Gonzalez, took to Facebook to express his grief.
“This by far is the hardest thing I have ever been through,” wrote Gonzalez. “My dad is the most loving person, everyone loved him. im confused and just hurt at this point in time.”
The medical examiner will determine the cause of death, and the investigation is ongoing.
