The third season of the Flushing Greenmarket kicks of Wednesday at Maple Playground.

The market, put together by the Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce and GrowNYC, will take place at the playground–located at Kissena Blvd and Maple Avenue– from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Wednesday to Nov. 22.

The market offers fresh produce, cooking demonstrations and information in multiple languages about nutrition programs. Furthermore, it provides $2 health bucks coupons for those who attend workshops to use toward the purchase of fruits and vegetables.

The market also accepts food stamps.

The location was selected three years ago by GrowNYC because the area has large sidewalks and there are many residents who live by the park.

The market aims to help ensure that children get nutritious food from locally-sourced farms. The food at this market will come from a farm in Orange County, NY.
