Woman, 89, Fatally Struck by Car While Crossing 32nd Avenue

An 89-year-old woman was struck and killed by a car on 32nd Avenue just steps from her Parsons Boulevard home on Sunday morning.

Police say that Maria Piscina was hit by a car while she was walking in an eastern-marked crosswalk at the Parsons Boulevard intersection at 8:34 a.m. 

A 2013 Mercedes Benz SUV, which had been traveling south on Parsons Boulevard, made a left turn onto 32nd Avenue as Piscina was crossing. 

The vehicle hit Piscina, who had been walking north across 32nd Avenue. The driver, 54, remained on the scene.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene and found Piscina lying unconscious on the roadway with head trauma. They rushed her to NY Presbyterian Hospital- Queens, where she later died.

No arrests have been made, although the investigation is ongoing.
