A new Santander Bank branch has opened in Flushing, marking the first location for the bank in the neighborhood.

The bank is located at 136-11 Roosevelt Ave., where representatives and community groups will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony today to officially open the branch.

“We’re excited to expand our presence in Queens by opening our first branch in Flushing where we can help residents and business owners in the neighborhood with their banking needs,” said Jim Uehlinger, region president for the Bank’s Metro New York/Northern New Jersey region, in a statement.

The branch includes several meeting spaces for customer and branch team interactions, including a meeting ‘nook” for private meetings with bankers. A 24-hour ATM is also available after branch hours.

Santander will also present a total of $52,000 to three community groups— Renaissance Economic Development Corporation, Chinese American Planning and Flushing Development Center—as part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The bank says it is making a three-year, $50,000 commitment to the REDC, which will use the funding to provide low-interest loans to small business and entrepreneurial training programs through the city.

Chinese American Planning, meanwhile, will receive a $1,000 donation to support its Nan Shan Senior Center. The center provides an array of social and community services for elderly clients, including help with housing applications, food stamps, health and nutrition.

The remaining $1,000 will be used by the Flushing Development Center to support the 2018 Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony on Nov. 20 on Kissena Boulevard and Main Street.

Santander Bank has several locations through Queens, including some branches and ATMs in College Point, Bayside and Murray Hill.
