Police are searching for a pair of thieves who stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry after breaking into several Flushing and surrounding area sites during one October day.

The two are believed to be behind five burglaries that took place on Oct. 9 during a seven-hour period.

The first break-in was at a home near Parsons Boulevard and 29th Road in Flushing at 1 p.m., where the two stole $500 worth of jewelry after getting in through an unsecured door.

The second break-in was at around 4 p.m. near Corporal Kennedy Street and 42nd Avenue in Bayside. While the two entered the site through an unsecured door, they made off with nothing, police day.

The third break in happened an hour later at around 5 p.m., where the two stole a whopping $4,000 worth of jewelry after getting into a home near 190th Street and Station Road in Auburndale through an unsecured window.

The duo then returned to the same Flushing and Auburndale areas where they had stolen jewelry just hours prior, but did not take any property in the two subsequent break-ins.

Police describe the suspects as male, both seen wearing hats, dark clothing, and masks covering their faces.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-8477, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.

Op-Ed | Hochul: Action is Imperative on Shoplifting, but Violent Crime is Just Fine

Apr. 29, 2024 By Council Member James F. Gennaro

Negotiations regarding the New York State budget have just concluded a few days ago and a budget has passed after more than two weeks of delays. But while Gov. Kathy Hochul has proclaimed this year’s ‘bold agenda’ aims to make New York ‘safer,’ there hasn’t been so much as a whisper about the safety issue New Yorkers actually care about – New York States’s dangerous bail reform laws and the State’s absence of a ‘dangerousness standard,’ which would allow judges to detain without bail those defendants that pose a present a clear and present danger to our communities. (The 49 other states and the federal government have a dangerousness standard. NY State is the only state that lacks this essential protection from the State’s most dangerous offenders.)
