Police are searching for a woman who stole a backpack filled with cash and credit cards in Flushing last month, and who later used one of the stolen cards to make a hefty purchase at a Woodside Home Depot.
Police say the backpack belonged to a 52-year-old woman, who was at the Speedway gas station at 56-01 Main St. on Oct. 24 when she realized she no longer had the backpack on her at around 9:30 p.m.
The victim told police that $2,300 in cash was inside the backpack, along with two credit cards.
Police later discovered that one of the credit cards was used less than an hour later and miles away at the Home Depot on 50-10 Northern Blvd. in Woodside
The thief, described by police as a light-skinned female, had bought $1,700 worth of merchandise from the location at around 10:10 p.m., and later fled from the store in a dark colored, four-door sedan with two other unknown people.
The suspect has black hair, and was last seen with a ponytail, wearing a black jacket, a light shirt, and a light-colored shoulder purse.

I hope she enjoys the beautiful surveillance footage and the knowledge that if she dares step into any of those stores again, an employee will have her arrested. When she is caught, she will be made to pay it all back too as well as serving time.
