NYPD: Man Breaks into Flushing Church, Although Leaves Empty Handed

The police are looking for a man who broke into a church on College Point Boulevard last week.

The suspect allegedly entered the Evangelical Mission Church Seminary, located on the 2nd floor of 41-42 College Point Blvd., at around 1:20 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17 through an unlocked door. He then rummaged through the church offices, although left empty handed.

The suspect is approximately 25-years-old and was last seen with facial hair.

A Fresh Meadows resident alerted authorities after witnessing a neighbor vandalize a religious statue at a local church that has been targeted several times in recent years.

Freddy Genao, 38, of 169th Street, was arrested and charged with criminal mischief as a hate crime for damaging the front doors of Holy Family Church on the night of Saturday, June 21, and then smashing the neck and face of a statue of the Blessed Mother on the front lawn.
