A Flushing man was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison today for stockpiling a cache of guns and ammunition in the basement of his Mulberry Avenue house.

Allan Hoo, 47, pleaded guilty in December to weapons charges after police found pistols, assault rifles, air rifles and a loaded .308 rifled in his house on March 25, 2018. Police also found nine high-capacity magazines and a large bag of fireworks.

The police discovered the weapons after Hoo made a bogus 911 claiming that there was an intruder in his house who had fired shots. When police arrived, they quickly determined the call was a hoax and found his stockpile of weapons.

Hoo was also sentenced to 5 years’ post-release supervision.

“This defendant jeopardized the lives of residents in his community by hoarding large amounts of guns and ammunition in his home,” said Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown in a statement. “Not only did this individual collect these weapons, but he lured offices to home with a crank call stating he was in danger.”

MTA bus slams into pole in Flushing, injuring eight passengers: NYPD

The driver of the Q20A bus was traveling westbound on 57th Road just south of Kissena Corridor Park at 5:58 a.m. when he made a right turn onto Main Street, jumped the curb, and slammed into a light pole at the intersection of Booth Memorial Avenue and Main Street, an MTA spokesman said. There were seven passengers on the bus when it crashed. They were transported by EMS to New York-Presbyterian Hospital with minor complaints of pain, according to the NYPD spokesman.

The Q20A bus had significant front-end damage, and an MTA spokesman said the bus operator is being withheld from service pending the investigation. No criminality is suspected, and the investigation remains ongoing, the NYPD spokesman said.
