A Flushing man was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the attempted murder of his wife, the Queens District Attorney’s office announced Wednesday.
Gou Hui Jiang, 45, of 78th Road, was found guilty of shooting his wife, Xiaowei Liu, in the head with a revolver on May 14, 2017, following a verbal dispute.
Liu was shot twice, and sustained bruising and swelling to her forehead. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was treated for her injuries.
Jiang pleaded guilty on June 11 to second-degree attempted murder before Acting Queens Supreme Court Justice Deborah Modica Stevens, who sentenced him to 12 years in prison plus five years’ post-release supervision.
“This was a needless act of gun violence and the defendant justly deserves to spend a lengthy term of incarceration as a result of his actions,” said Acting Queens District Attorney John M. Ryan in a statement.
