Flushing’s Golden Shopping Mall, known for its string of food shops, has closed for renovations, according to published reports.
The Golden Shopping Mall, located at 41-26 Main St., contains a multitude of cheap, delectable eateries and is best known for Chinese food.
On July 30, according to Grub Street, the food hall officially closed to begin work on the site. There is no word as to when the overhaul will be done.
Tianjin Dumpling House, a popular restaurant long-housed at the mall, has already decided to relocate due to the uncertainty of the completion date.
Many restaurants and vendors have not decided if they are moving. A lengthy closure potentially jeopardizes many of the businesses located there.
Since popularized by Anthony Bourdain and his affinity to the location, the food hall has become a food destination spot for many New Yorkers and tourists.
The purpose of these renovations is unknown.

i (a seventy something white guy) have given Main Street and this food court several tries, ambling along, taking in the sights, observing the hustle and bustle and honestly, i’ve pretty much given up due to the grubbiness, grime, greasy windows and lack of attention to what, pride of ownership? it’s just too grubby for me; granted, i’m getting old, and in my youth might have been more tolerant but it’s not for me anymore. still love roosevelt avenue though, until i discover its flaws. oh well.
