Firefighter Saves 4-Year-Old Boy Left in Sweltering Car in College Point, Dad Arrested

FDNY FIrefighter Clinton

Aug. 9, 2019 By Shane O’Brien

A firefighter rescued a 4-year-old boy from a sweltering car in College Point yesterday after his father left him inside the locked vehicle while he was allegedly buying drugs.

Firefighter Matthew Clinton smashed his way through the driver’s-side window of a car parked outside Target, located at 135-05 20th Ave., after he was alerted by shoppers of a child in distress at around 4 p.m.

Clinton happened to be in the vicinity at the time and he calmed the child down by telling him that he was a firefighter, before calling emergency services. He then asked someone in the crowd of onlookers to find him something to break the window with.

“The kid was screaming that it was hot. You could see sweat on his face. I told him that I’m a Firefighter. Dispatch was called, and I asked someone in the crowd to get me something to break the window with,” Clinton said in a post on the FDNY Facebook page.

Emergency services arrived on the scene soon after, and the boy was transported to Flushing Hospital where he is said to be in a stable condition.

The child’s father, Geremie Ram, 42, of New Rochelle, returned to the car shortly after his son was taken to hospital, according to the NYPD. He was found to be in possession of several Xanax pills and was arrested on the scene.

Ram was charged with reckless endangerment, acting in a manner injurious to a child and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

FF Matthew – thank God you were there or there would have been another child who died due to their parent’s stupidity, selfishness or lack of giving a dam about their child. God bless you.

Drugs. There you are, then.

Watch the bum non-father sue the firefighter for damages to the car.
