The Flushing Business Improvement District (BID) is hosting its annual holiday lighting celebration for the 17th year on Tuesday.
Every winter, the Flushing BID hangs LED snowflakes and light displays above the streets and lights them at a ceremony with community members and elected officials to mark the start of the holiday season.
Along with Macy’s and the Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel, the Flushing BID will celebrate this year’s holiday season with a ceremony in front of Macy’s at 136-50 Roosevelt Ave. from 5:30 to 6 p.m.
Immediately after the ceremony, the holiday celebration will continue with a community appreciation party inside the Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel’s seventh floor gallery room, located at 135-20 39th Ave. Guests are invited to share a delicious dinner together.
The party runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Holiday Lighting Ceremony has become a major community event where the holiday shopping season is kicked off at Macy’s with elected officials, Flushing BID board Directors, and community leaders.
Past years have had face painting for children, as well as a visit from Santa and his elves.
