Pool at Flushing Meadows Aquatic Center to Close for Repairs

Flushing Meadows Corona Park Aquatic Center

Dec. 18, 2019 By Kristen Torres

The pool at the Flushing Meadows Corona Park Aquatic Center will be closed for emergency repairs beginning early next year, according to NYC Parks.

City officials announced the closure Tuesday, citing emergency ceiling work to be done in the pool and ice rink areas at the center, which is located at 131-04 Meridian Road.

The pool will be closed for at least six weeks beginning on Jan. 13, 2020. All aquatics programming will also be cancelled.

“While we never wish to close our facilities, essential repairs must be made to ensure the safety of all who use the Aquatic Center,” said NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver in a statement. “We…will work hard to expedite these repairs and get everyone back into the pools before winter’s end.

The ice rink will remain open during repairs, according to the department.
