74-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Front of Northern Boulevard Home

A 74-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by a car as she crossed Northern Boulevard in Flushing on New Year’s Day.

Ok J Kang was crossing the busy road shortly before 6 p.m. yesterday when she was struck by a 2015 Jeep Cherokee right in front of her home at the Northgate Towers, near Bowne Street. The 43-year-old driver was traveling westbound along Northern Boulevard when he struck Kang, police said.

EMS rushed Kang to New York Presbyterian Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The male driver remained at the scene and there have been no arrests, police said. The NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.

The victim woke up and tried to regain his property. During the ensuing brawl, the victim fatally stabbed a 37-year-old assailant and slashed a second man. The victim has not been charged in the fatal stabbing. The investigation by the NYPD’s Queens Homicide Squad and members of the 108th Precinct in Long Island City remains ongoing.
