Hundreds of Jobs Up For Grabs at Sixth Queens Online Recruitment Fair

Calling all job seekers!

Hundreds of jobs will be up for grabs when the Queens Borough President’s sixth recruitment fair is held next week.

The event, which will take place via the video-conferencing application Zoom, is being held on Aug. 5 at 2:00 p.m. and out-of-work residents will get a chance to connect with recruiters and employers from various industries.

The event will be hosted by Acting Queens Borough President Sharon Lee and positions in healthcare, transportation, retail, security and community services will be on offer. It will be the sixth fair organized by the borough president and is expected to last for about 90 minutes.

Participants will have the opportunity to hear presentations from industry leaders followed by an interactive Q & A session.

There are positions available with the Child Center of New York, Community Capacity Development and the Council for Airport Opportunity, according to the borough president’s office.

Workers are also needed at LIFE Camp, Inc., Mercy Home, MetroPlus Health Plan, New York Life, NYC Health + Hospitals, Queens Centers for Progress, Rock Safe Streets, WATCH GUARD 24/7, Workforce1 and the Young Adult Institute.

The event is part of series that has been held every three weeks during the pandemic to help laid-off residents find a job. The first event was held on May 13.

The latest fair comes at a time when unemployment in the borough remains high despite some government restrictions being lifted.

The unemployment rate for Queens rose to 21.8 percent in June, according to the Queens Borough President’s Office.

Acting Queens Borough President Sharon Lee said it is critical that job seekers are connected with vacant positions as the economy restarts.

“We are pleased to have new partners join our returning employers in answering questions live about a wide variety of jobs hiring now.”

Police from the 109th Precinct in Flushing are looking for three burglars who broke into homes in Malba and Murray Hill in March, making off with cash and property.
