Off-Duty NYPD Detective Busted for DWI After Crashing Into Gate at College Point Police Academy

An off-duty NYPD detective has been busted for driving drunk after he crashed into a security gate at the Police Academy in College Point yesterday, according to published reports.

Detective Michael Jimenez, 38, was arrested and charged for driving while intoxicated and refusing to take a breath test at around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to police.

Jimenez, who works in Brooklyn, slammed his car into a security gate at the academy, located at 130-30 28th Ave., while driving to attend training, according to the New York Daily News.

Another detective was riding in the passenger seat alongside him at the time of the incident and both cops were unhurt, the publication reported.

The incident was Detective Jimenez’s second DWI arrest, according to the New York Post.

Jimenez was suspended without pay after his arrest and the accompanying detective is expected to be disciplined, the New York Daily News reported.
