An 82-year-old woman was killed by a driver of an SUV at the intersection of Corporal Kennedy Street and 43rd Avenue (GMaps)

An 82-year-old Bayside woman who was struck by an SUV down the street from her home Sunday has died from her injuries, police said Friday.

Lopamudra Desai was crossing Corporal Kennedy Street at 43rd Avenue at around 3:20 p.m. on May 23 when she was hit by a 2020 grey Chevrolet Traverse, police said.

The driver, a 43-year-old female, was traveling south on Corporal Kennedy Street and struck Desai while turning left on 43rd Avenue, police said. The victim, who lived on Corporal Kennedy Street, was hit while in the vicinity of the crosswalk.

Police found Desai lying on the roadway with head and body trauma. EMS rushed her to NYC Health & Hospitals/Queens where she died Tuesday, police said.

The driver remained at the scene. There have been no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.

A Queens grand jury indicted an East Elmhurst man in connection to a July 4th fatal collision at Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

Yersson Diaz, 27, of Ericsson Street just south of LaGuardia Airport, appeared at Queens Criminal Court for a summons on Tuesday and was taken into custody, according to an NYPD spokeswoman. He was booked Tuesday afternoon at the 110th Precinct in Elmhurst, where he was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
