A homeless man broke into the political office of a Queens Assemblywoman Saturday night but was busted by police in the act.

Michael Masturzi, 27, smashed through the glass front door of Assemblywoman Nily Rozic’s office, located at 159-16 Union Turnpike, at around 9:45 p.m., while attempting to burglarize the location, according to police.

Police responded to a 911 call of a burglary taking place at the location and, upon arrival, searched the premises. They found Masturzi cowering inside a closet at the rear of the building clutching a hard drive.

It is unclear what information was contained on the hard drive or if it belonged to the Assemblywoman.

Masturzi, who police say is from East Elmhurst but is currently homeless, has been charged with burglary and criminal possession of stolen property.

He has a long rap sheet and has been arrested 16 times previously, including at least five times on burglary charges, police said.

Rozic posted a photo of the shattered glass door to social media Sunday.

“Sharing some unfortunate news that last night my district office was broken into,” Rozic wrote. “Staff was not present and luckily no one was harmed.”

Rozic said her office will remain closed until further notice, although staff will be working remotely.

The legislator represents New York’s 25th District which covers Flushing, Queensboro Hill, Hillcrest, Fresh Meadows, Oakland Gardens, Bayside, and Douglaston.
