A Fresh Meadows man was charged Tuesday with murder for the shooting death of his mother’s boyfriend at an apartment in the NYCHA Pomonok Houses complex in Flushing,

Desean McCain, 22, allegedly shot his disabled mother’s boyfriend on Nov. 2 during a domestic dispute. He faces up to 25-years-to-life in prison if convicted.

“A domestic dispute erupted into chaos and tragedy when the defendant allegedly fired an illegal gun multiple times at the victim. No one has the right to take another person’s life,” said Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz in a statement.

According to the complaint, McCain was in his mother’s apartment—located in the vicinity of Parson Boulevard and Jewel Avenue—shortly after 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2, when he allegedly shot 47-year-old Anthony Ragler. The shooting took place while McCain’s mother had her nine-year-old grandson present.

When police arrived at the scene, McCain had fled, according to authorities. Medical personnel transported Ragler to a local hospital but the gunshot wounds to his head and chest were fatal.

McCain was apprehended Nov. 9 and charged with murder in the second degree, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and endangering the welfare of a child.

The investigation was conducted by the 107th Detective Squad.
