Summer Market and Festival Taking Place in Flushing Saturday

A community market and summer festival will take place at St.George’s Church in Flushing on Saturday.

Flushing Night Out will run from 12 noon until 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24 and will take place outside the church on 38th Avenue and Main Street as well as inside the church’s parish hall.

The event includes a wide selection of international cuisine and free musical performances. Vendors from all over Flushing will be selling a diverse choice of artisanal products, international food, drinks and desserts.

Flushing Night Out has been running annually since 2015 and this year will feature cuisine from vendors including Japanese restaurant Totto Ramen, Korean Fusion restaurant Tiger Box, Ecuadorian eatery La Braza and Caribbean restaurant Tropical Revival among many others. There will also be a host of eateries selling ice cream and other desserts.

A number of local artists will provide live music and entertainment at Flushing Night Out. Korean-pop artists Harmonyc Movement headline the event, with artists such as Wind Meets West and Evermore supporting.

The market is organized by the Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce.

Admission is free and the event is sponsored by iCross Capital Fund, SBT Advantage Bank, EmblemHealth, COTS Travel, Hanover Bank, and Cushman & Wakefield.

The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating a case of aggravated harassment on the St. John’s University campus in Hillcrest at 80-00 Utopia Parkway last month.

Karaoke dispute turns violent as woman attacks man over microphone: NYPD

Police from the 109th Precinct in Flushing are looking for a crazed karaoke singer who attacked a 24-year-old man during the early morning hours of Monday, Jan. 20, and remains at large.

The assault occurred at 4 a.m. inside the 9Plus KTV & Party Lounge, located at 136-28 39th Ave., when a blonde woman began arguing with the victim over a karaoke microphone. The suspect picked up a metal drink pitcher and smashed him in the head with it, causing serious physical injury to the victim, police said Monday.
