Queens officials celebrate completion of renovation project at Flushing-Main Street subway station

Nov. 28, 2023 By Rachel Butler Flushing Council Member Sandra Ung joined representatives from the MTA to celebrate the completion of upgrades at the Flushing-Main Street subway station on Nov. 22. The improvements, which took nearly two years to complete, consisted of the replacement of eight staircases and installation of eight new ones, the addition of four new points of entry to the station and the creation of two new fare control areas.  MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber said that the expansion was one of the largest modernization projects undertaken by the MTA.  “Installing new staircases, creating new entries…

Police from the 109th Precinct in Flushing responded to a 911 call of a vehicle collision involving pedestrians on 20th Avenue near the Whitestone Expressway in College Point at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 23. The venue, which is located on Northern Boulevard in Flushing, has become known as a hub for great jazz music and performances. Toby Stavisky and Assemblymember Ron Kim joined workers at the Tempco Glass Fabrication facility in Flushing on Nov. 21 to celebrate the company’s 10-year anniversary and the opening of a new glass lamination line.
