Nov. 21, 2023 By Bill Parry A New Jersey man was indicted by a Queens grand jury and criminally charged with insurance fraud in the theft of $2.6 million from a trust fund, according to the Queens District Attorney’s Office. David Liu, 36, of Garfield, NJ, was arraigned in Queens Supreme Court on Nov. 15 on a nine-count indictment charging him with grand larceny in the first degree and other crimes. Nov. 21, 2023 By Ethan Marshall The number of vehicles being stolen, categorized by the NYPD as grand larceny auto, has increased throughout Queens year-to-date, compared to the same period in 2022, according to the latest crime stats released by the NYPD. Grand larceny auto incidents are up 39.6% in northern Queens for the year through Nov. 19, rising from 1,718 incidents last year to 2,398 this year. The Big Apple ranked as the fourth-least affordable city, moving up from the fifth place spot in the prior month’s report.
