Two men were shot and wounded in Auburndale and police from the 107th Precinct in Fresh Meadows are still looking for the gunman and his accomplice behind the shooting nearly a week later, according to the NYPD.
The shooting went down just before 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31, when the two suspects were allegedly robbing a 28-year-old man in the vicinity of 161st Street and Jewel Avenue. The crooks were forcibly removing the victim’s property when a 61-year-old man attempted to aid the victim and a struggle ensued. During the melee, one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and allegedly shot the good Samaritan in his left arm and then fired another shot that struck the 28-year-old man in the back, police said. The two suspects ran from the crime scene northbound on 161st Street.
EMS responded and transported both shooting victims to NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition, according to the authorities.
The NYPD released surveillance images of the suspects wanted in connection with the shooting on Nov. 3.
One suspect has a medium complexion and was last seen wearing a blue vest over a blue hooded sweatshirt, a black facemask, blue sweatpants, black socks and white flip flops, police said.

The second suspect has a dark complexion and was last seen wearing a black winter coat with a tan colored fur lined hood, a black hooded sweatshirt, gray jeans and black sneakers.

The 107th Precinct has reported 198 assaults so far in 2023, 36 more than the 162 reported at the same point last year, an increase of 22.2%, according to the most recent CompStat report. Robberies in the 107th Precinct are down with 120 reported so far in 2023, 32 fewer than the 120 reported at the same point last year, a decline of 23.6%, according to CompStat. Shootings are also on the decline, with two incidents reported so far in 2023, 5 fewer than the 7 reported at the same point in 2022, a decrease of 71.4%, according to the most recent CompStat report.
