The Queens International Night Market will return for its fall season later this month.
The popular market, which is open Saturdays from April until Oct. 27, will return on Sept. 29 after taking a hiatus to accommodate the U.S. Open. This fall, the market will feature food, art and merchandise from around the world.
Queens Night Market will take place each Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to midnight in a lot adjacent to the New York Hall of Science at 47-01 111th St in Corona.
The event’s head organizer, John Wang, said that the event aims to represent as many cultures as possible.
More than 50 food vendors have already been confirmed to appear at the market this fall.
The market will feature new dishes, including Laotian Larb, Hungarian chimney cakes, Ethiopian injera (sourdough flatbread), Trinidadian shark sandwiches, Spanish Paella and Mexican tacos al pastor.
One of the unique features of the market is that it vendors are not permitted to sell food items for more than $5— with a few $6 exceptions.
Wang said that keeping the price of food is down is central to the market’s mission.
“Whatever is or isn’t happening with the economy, affordability remains the greatest equalizer and has a true democratizing effect,” Wang said. “As evidence of that, we continue to draw probably the most diverse crowds in NYC, which seems especially relevant given all the headlines we’ve been seeing over the last year or two.”
This fall, the market will also feature a wide variety of merchandise vendors, including purveyors of LED balloons, henna, K-pop gear, map illustration art and many other goods.
The Night Market will also feature a number of live musical acts, including American Samba band Os Clavelitos; Queens College’s Bollywood dance team QC Fanna; and Blues band Brewster Moonface.
The final Saturday of the Night Market season, Oct. 27, will be Halloween themed. The market will host trick-or-treating and a costume contest for adults and children.
Applications for new vendors will be accepted until the end of the season. Interested vendors should apply at the link, or can direct questions to the linked email.
