Queens Senator to Host Virtual Town Hall on Impact of COVID on NYC Schools

State Sen. John Liu (Facebook)

May 5, 2020 By Allie Griffin

State Sen. John Liu is hosting a virtual town hall next Tuesday for parents, students and teachers about the impact of COVID-19 on New York City schools.

Liu, chairperson of the Senate’s NYC Education Committee, will host the town hall with other members of the committee on Zoom and will also broadcast it live on Facebook on May 12 at 6 p.m.

The two-hour town hall will focus on the performance of the city’s Department of Education (DOE) during the healthcare crisis.

“DOE has accomplished a great deal in unprecedented adversity and still has much to address,” Liu said. “More input and engagement from parents and other people who care about our schools can only result in better outcomes, and we look to facilitate that.”

Parents and educators are invited to speak during the moderated meeting. They should sign up in advance to speak by filling out this form. Speakers are chosen on a first-come, first-serve basis.
