State Sen. Leroy Comrie is leading an effort to deliver food to frontline healthcare workers at Queens Hospital Center and residents in need in Jamaica.

Queens Hospital Center, located at 82-68 164th St., is one of 11 public hospitals that has faced the brunt of the coronavirus pandemic in New York City.

Comrie has enlisted volunteers to pack, sort and deliver hundreds of hot meals and groceries to hospital staff, as well as residents who are disabled and/or elderly outside his district office today.

He has partnered with local community organizations and veterans, as well as small businesses to gather and deliver the food.

The senator said his constituents often call his office to ask how they can help the community.

“Residents reach out every day asking how they can help, they want to give back to the frontline workers,” Comrie said.

“There is a significant population in Southeast Queens that wants to volunteer their efforts and time in a safe and effective way and we want to continue to harness that positive energy by partnering with our veterans, SEQ UP Front and our small businesses like Maxine’s on the Boulevard, Remax Realty and the Door Restaurant.”
